We’d put our retirees up against anybody’s

Energizers is a nonprofit organization comprising Alabama Power and Southern Company retirees and their spouses, who are committed to unselfish service to communities of Alabama. Our retirees made an interesting discovery: working to help others is fun, and more fulfilling than sitting around watching reruns.

A day in the life

On any given day, you can find an Energizer building a playground at a school, helping with a Habitat for Humanity project, delivering meals, volunteering at hospitals and nursing homes or assisting with adult literacy programs. And that’s just scratching the surface.

What People Are Saying

“Eastern Division Energizers have a lot of great projects, but my favorite is when we go into local schools to mentor students. I enjoy getting to know the younger generation and helping them succeed.”
James Glover 2017 Eastern Energizers Chapter president
“E.C. Gaston Chapter has volunteered with Backyard Blessings for several years. We help this nonprofit organization put together packets of food for kids who might not have heathy meal options at home.”
Lane Ross 2018 E.C. Gaston Chapter president-elect
“This year several of our chapter members knitted baby blankets to donate to various organizations. It’s rewarding to use your time to help others.”
Linda Handley Jasper Energizers Chapter member
“We are especially proud of our chapter’s work volunteering at our local homeless shelter. We have been given so much in life and feel that it’s important to serve those who are less fortunate."
Chuck Hrabe 2017 Mobile Energizers Chapter president
