Project SHARE

Project SHARE provides emergency assistance to elderly and disabled Alabamians who need help with their energy bills. Project SHARE is funded by electric utility customers who donate through their monthly electric bills. All contributions are forwarded to the program administrators.

The program is currently undergoing administrative changes. Beginning in January 2017, the program will be administered by the Salvation Army instead of the American Red Cross.

Since its inception, Project SHARE has provided more than $38.4 million in assistance to more than 385,000 families.

How you can help with Project SHARE

To participate in Project SHARE and become a part of the network of neighbors, you can pledge to contribute $1, $2, $5, $10 or any other whole-dollar amount you choose each month. The amount you select will be automatically added to your utility bill each month.

Project SHARE was able to provide utility assistance for more than 7,300 families in need during 2015.
