Alabama Power is committed to furthering education in our state and making sure our youth are prepared for the future. For many years, through both company and foundation efforts, Alabama Power has supported a wide variety of education-related initiatives. Our dedication to education doesn’t stop with our Brighter Minds initiative. Take a look at some of the additional education resources we provide:

Scholarships

 

Helping educate our state’s talented students ensures a strong future for Alabama. The Alabama Power Foundation has established more than 40 endowed scholarships at state schools. These scholarships are awarded directly by the colleges and universities.

To date, the Alabama Power Foundation has given out more than $4 million in college scholarships to help prepare the next generation of Alabama leaders.

educational grants

The foundation has awarded more than 20,000 educational grants and scholarships to date.


New Teacher Grants

 

Since 1995, the foundation has been providing grants to first-year teachers across the state. These grants give teachers the power to inspire and educate their students by purchasing needed classroom supplies.

Thirteen classrooms are off to a great start. Thirteen first-year teachers were able to purchase classroom supplies using foundation grants of $1,000 each in 2015.
